Scope of the Project

Modernize 75, Segment 3 is located north of M102 (8 Mile Road) to north of 13 Mile Road in the cities of Madison Heights, Royal Oak, and Hazel Park. This segment consists of upgrading and expanding 5.5 miles of the existing freeway including the addition of HOV lanes from the northern limit of the project to 12 Mile Road, constructing 23 bridges (17 vehicular overpasses and 6 pedestrian structures), upgrading service drives, construction of retaining walls/noise walls, ITS upgrades and the incorporation of community advised and developed aesthetic improvements. Also included is a safety upgrade that separates traffic entering northbound I-75 from I-696, and the northbound I-75 traffic exiting at 11 Mile Road. Additionally, a 14-foot diameter storage and drainage tunnel between Meyers Avenue and 12 Mile Road will be constructed to separate and meter freeway water from the local storm system to mitigate future flooding concerns.
